Duration; from 2 to 3 hours
This medieval town, Ram, is situated at the east side of the medieval fortification Lederata. There are many legends about the name, connected to the founders,
the brothers Romulus and Ram, and some connected to the fortification Ihram; that is, some documents
say that the fortification was renewed by the Turkish sultan Bajazit in 1491/92. That is the origin of the name Ram; but a thousand years ago, the locality was called Lederata.
The holes for cannons on towers suggest that Ram was military fortress on the Danube.
A board below the fortress, with a three-line-Roman text, tells that Ram was a Roman place.
