One of the legends about the foundation of Monastery Nimnik tells about a Vlach girl who was killed by the Turks for two, to them, strange words "Ni mik" (I don't know anything). Those words were the answer to their question "Where is the monastery?"

   If you go up the Danube, you'll come to Nimnik Monastery, which dates before the Battle on Kosovo,Built in an oak forest near Kurjace village, 15 km from Veliko Gradiste, burnt down and demolished, it has traces of many periods, even ornamental stone from the Roman town Viminacium. Its founder was a nobleman Ljubin Bogosav.
